I’ll Be Home For Christmas

Well … It has been an amazing journey the past 4 months in Music City USA.  I met wonderful friends, talented artists, and really awesome songwriters.  I’m coming home with 22 brand new songs, which I can’t wait to share with you along the way.  I had a great show the other night with some of my favorite people, Anna Johnson, Sarah Turner, Allen Shervelle, Alice Bergeron, Kelly Murray, DeMetri Moon, Brent Clifford and Marc-Alan Barnette.  <— Check out some of those artists … You will not be disappointed!

I am designing my album artwork, getting everything organized for releasing my EP in the spring of 2012!  I will be releasing a Single on iTunes, so be sure to check the iTunes store or website in a week or so :-)  Can’t wait to share some of my music with you all!!  Thanks for being with me and following my journey throughout the last few years :-)

Well we drove from Nashville TN to Lincoln, Nebraska the other day … Yesterday we drove from NB to Layton, Utah… And Today we are driving from UT to hopefully Seattle, Washington.  It’s been about 13-15 hour driving days and it’s been crazy how much ground we have covered!!  Driving home with my dad and it’s been great - we are trying to get home by tomorrow … Depends on the line at the boarder, and if we catch the last ferry - but I am excited to be home!  It’s been about 6 months since I spent longer than a week at home, so I’m excited!!!

I have been so busy I feel like Christmas has snuck up on me!!!  I can’t wait to wrap presents, see my friends and get baking with my mom while drinking candy cane tea and listening to christmas music!!  What do you do for Christmas that’s special?

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday - please come back and check in for updates and a new tune very soon!!! :-)

It’s Beginning to look a lot like Christmas

2:10am …. December 4th …. it’s sinking in that I am leaving Nashville in 6 days.  I have had an A-mazing time here with all my friends, new and old, and every time my adventure becomes more and more productive and exciting!

I have written over 20 songs here in just 3 months … that’s crazy!!!  What’s even more crazy is I actually love each and every one of them.  It’s going to be hard to only pick a few to be on my next album.  I guess that’s why I have all of you, to help me decide!  I am very excited about my new EP coming out in the Spring of 2012 … I will be releasing 1 song in January on iTunes … then the EP will be released most likely in April.  I just spent the last few weeks mixing these songs and making sure they were perfect for you!  There will be 4 new songs and possibly a few bonus tracks.  How Exciting :)

I have a few shows coming up in Nashville here before I leave to go back to Vancouver Island.  Here is the info!

Thursday Dec.8th, 6pm - R’ichards Louisiana Cafe, Whites Creek
Friday Dec. 9th, 5pm - Belcourt Taps & Tapas, Nashville
                          7pm - Downtown Hotel Indigo, Nashville (union/3rd)

So I have been a busy little bee, but have been running into trouble all over the place!  First my car heater stops working- and costs a pretty penny to fix, I need new tires for my car, I chipped my back tooth … then today I was in a writing session and BAM … this HUGE crash.  I run to the noise and find water gushing out from a broken pipe in my basement suite … we were running around trying to find out how to turn off the water to the house and finally we turned it off, only to find out the entire half of the basement has flooded.  Goodness me, talk about happy holidays of fun!!

On a happier note … I am finishing up some recording and writing this week, and get to take my dad around town and show him what I do day to day in Nashvegas.  I am super excited to show him everything I’ve been getting into!  I’ll be driving back to BC on Dec. 10th, so please keep us in your prayers when we are traveling for a safe journey home!  I’ll be posting video, pictures and blogging on my way back, so please keep checking back on more updates!

Again, I am so blessed to have the opportunity to hang out with/write with such talented writers and artists.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all my new friends and fans I’ve made this trip, you guys made it so SO much better.  Thanks for coming to shows and cheering me on, I have never played to an empty room.  :)

If anyone’s looking for a real good time in Nashville this week … FRIDAY Dec.9th at 7pm  - Downtown Hotel Indigo off Union/3rd is THE place TO be.  ;-)  I hope you are taking that hint.

Here is a sneak listen of my newest song ‘A Soldiers Life’, not yet released.  A Special Treat- just for Remembrance Day :-)

Dream. Live. Remember.

Today is Nov. 11th, Remembrance day.  I am thankful and grateful to my great grandfather who fought and died in WW2, and to those who still fight to this day.  If you would like to listen to a very special preview of my song ‘A Soldier’s Life’, which isn’t yet released, simply click the play button beside the ‘soundcloud’ bar above this post :)

I have been a busy little bee playing shows with lots of friends down here in Nashville and writing as many brand new songs before heading home.  I’m very excited to share all my new material with all of you, and hope you love it too!  I’m currently working out the last bit of kinks in my newest recordings - still trying to decide to release an EP of 4 songs in 2012, then include those songs on a full album in 2013, or just to wait until 2013 to release the album.  Everything is up in the air right now, but I am so excited!

I had such an amazing time performing and chatting with Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Victoria Banks, Patricia Conroy, Michelle Wright and Beverley Mahood a few weeks ago.  What an awesome chance to ask questions to other successful Canadian female artists.  I must say, every single woman was humble, drop dead gorgeous in person, and very good at live performances.  If you have a chance to see them - please jump at the opportunity!!  Below is a picture of the ladies in their acoustic ‘round’ at the house party in Franklin, TN.

CMA Week here in Nashville - that was a blast!  Congrats to all the artists who were nominated and to those who won.  I had the chance to perform downtown at a few venues this past week and the crowds were amazing!!  Thank you to each and every one of you who came out and listened and supported us at our shows.  It’s so much fun to perform to people who are cheering you on, so thanks :)  If you are in the Nashville area, please go to my facebook page (www.facebook.com/bethmariefans) and click on ‘band profile’ to see where I’m playing next so you can come listen!  I would be delighted if you came and chatted with me after!

I have quite a few more live shows, writing appointments and mingling to do in Nashville before I head home - so I will keep you posted.  Please check back and share my music - I will love you forever for it!

Happy Halloween!

Well well … fancy meeting you here!  Oct. 25th already.  This has been an insane amazing month or two.  I have so many stories and exciting tid-bits of news to share!  Wow, let’s start from where I last left off!

The end of september was a crazy whirlwind!  I had 4 shows that week, 3 co-writes and got to hang out with some great friends and make beautiful memories.  The beginning of October I was blessed with the opportunity to record some NEW material at Playground Recording Studio and had such a blast!  What was meant to be just 2 demos turned into 4 full scale productions, and we pulled ALL the stops folks.  I even have steel guitar on these songs.  Awesome!  So I spent the week listening to the amazing session players put their neat licks and flavour on the tunes.
I was also blessed to see Lee Ann Womack & Little Big Town’s taping of their Christmas special at the Grand Ole Opry House.  That was so cool - we had amazing seats and they sounded amazing.  When you see that on CMT, just remember … I was there! haha.

I have been writing with some talented folks here and can’t wait to share some of the new songs that we have been working on.  So far 7 brand new tunes have been created … hoping to come back with a whole lot more by december!  Yesterday I was recording in Michael McDonald’s (of the Doobie Brothers) studio with my wonderful co-writer, Grady Walker, and my producer, Dave Bechtel, finishing up our song “Go Slow” - which I think you will enjoy quite a bit.  It so happens Michael is in town, and stopped by the studio … so I performed “Go Slow” on the piano and he said he enjoyed the song and loved my voice!  What a treat … you don’t get to sing to a legend every day!

Speaking of legends … THIS saturday I am performing at a private function along side Victoria Banks, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Patricia Conroy and many up & coming canadian artists!  It’s very encouraging seeing Canadian Songwriters/Artists being celebrated in Nashville.  It should be an awesome time and I’m really looking forward to playing with that calibre of talent!

So many amazing things in such a short time, it’s hard to believe most of this is normal to everyone who lives here.  I believe it just makes me more appreciative of the opportunities I’ve been given and hopefully I’ll be blessed to get into more amazing things while I can!  December is coming so fast, and soon I’ll have to say goodbye to Nashville.  Until then … stay in touch, keep checking up, and I will update soon!

A Month in the life

Well!  It is September 25th, hard to believe it’s the end of the month already!  What a wonderful adventure this has been already.  I have been blessed to play a bunch of shows, meet new talented people and attend a FREE Alan Jackson & Eric Church Concert.  Where does that happen ever … other than Music City!

I’ll admit, I am slightly bored during the day when all my friends or co-writers are working.  One day, a couple weeks back, I got really lonely so I went for a drive, wound up at a music store and bought a beautiful guitar.  What’s the moral of this story?  I shouldn’t be allowed out shopping by myself.  My friends everywhere will attest to this. lol.  I am excited for the next 2 weeks coming up, I have co-writes DURING THE DAY - Hallelujah!

This week:
I have 3 writing appointments, wish me luck on those - very excited to give my brain some motivation :-)
2 Shows coming up - Tuesday 7pm & Thursday 730 (more details soon) and hopefully meeting new friends in between!

*OH Exciting news:  My Facebook ‘Fan’ Page is growing!  I now have 630+ fans … can we make it past the 1,000 mark??   I would LOVE your help, I know you are on facebook, admit it!  Please go and ‘like’ my page, and share with all your friends :)  There are I think 4 FREE Downloads once you click ‘like’.  I will love you forever!
